Varghese Group: Translational Chemical Biology Laboratory

The focus of our research is to realize the transformative power of Chemistry at the interface between Cell and Molecular Biology and Medicine. Our research interests are in the interdisciplinary fields of biomolecular chemistry, with a focus on the chemistry and biochemistry of nucleic acids and natural biomolecules.

We use techniques and concepts from chemical biology, organic chemistry, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, and other disciplines to design our experiments and interpret our results. Our ambition is to utilize synthetic organic chemistry to fabricate new materials and therapeutic nucleic acids to transform medicine that could be translated in an animal model and perhaps for clinical application.

Research interests

Our core research interest is in organic chemistry, chemical biology, biomaterials, synthetic biology, regenerative medicine, and anticancer therapeutics.

You can find more information about our research areas at our ongoing research page.
